Leadership Qualities of Business & Community BUILDERS

As we look across our 4 quarterly issues of Business & Community BUILDERS, having now completed a full year, we see the full spectrum of the leadership themes represented by real-world examples. “Persevering” exemplified by R.E. Middleton Construction, “Adapting to Change” represented by Creative Contracting Inc., “Building for the Future” represented by Hollaender Architectural Railing Design and “Serving Community” represented by the Revelance Team, Jean Raga, Mason Schools Foundation (including Nathalie Neuburger, Mindy Patton), high school sports coaches (Steve Tong, Chad Layton) and artists (David Uy, David Jonathan Creative).

Each quarterly issue represented with a leadership theme.

We celebrate and honor these leaders and organizations that we call Business & Community BUILDERS because they have done the hard work to persevere through the challenges of building a business year after a year (it’s not easy), have developed their people, built team cultures and still find a way to give in notable ways to the community.

"Stadium Highlights, Football Edition"

Ready, set, hut! 🏈

3 reasons we were glad to create & share this project type highlight video of “Stadium Highlights, Football Edition.” 60 seconds. (Stay tuned for soccer and pickleball editions, 2024)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lgeuRPxCe0

1) Football is part of the fabric of our culture, especially this time of year approaching the playoffs, that many of us like to celebrate. We go to big games/ stadiums, celebrate and cheer for our favorite teams, wear certain jerseys and uphold certain family & friend traditions.

Look at the family and football traditions many of us enjoyed on Thanksgiving Day, whether playing in a family/friend "Turkeybowl" game or watching the Lions vs. Packers at Ford Field (in person or on TV). Many cheer for our favorite NFL, college and high school teams. Sports and football matter to many!

2) Our country will continue to BUILD and INNOVATE for the future. It’s vital to know there are stylish, strong and safe architectural railing solutions to help do it, whether new sports facilities, new infrastructure, to support solar panels or beyond.  Innovation has been part of the culture since its founding.

Hollaender Manufacturing Company prides itself on its custom ideas, design and engineering that keep us all safe. And the fact that there are high quality architectural railing solutions designed and manufactured right here in Cincinnati, USA is meaningful. Not mere words, part of the culture/beliefs.

3) To share tips and perspective for some. For my fellow marketers, strategists and content creators, here’s a few considerations (reminders for some) we like for creating content:

a) Incorporate and link the strengths and priorities of the company into the project highlights. They should be meaningful, memorable and points to repeat.

b) Yes, music & visuals are "everything," but also think about specific occasions.
...circumstances, moments and occasions matter to set the right context!

c) Ensure you align content to the strategic objectives. This seems obvious, but remember to be very intentional and strategic.

Hollaender Partners with City of Cincinnati to Manufacture Integral Component Needed for The City’s Historic Staircases

Cincinnati, OH - The City of Cincinnati’s Transportation and Engineering Department manages and maintains nearly 400 sets of City hillside stairways which serve the neighborhood residents, guests and commuters in the City of Cincinnati.

The hillside steps are an integral part of the city's transportation system and provide a pedestrian-friendly connection to some areas of the City which are quite remote. Besides the day-to-day use of the steps for the traveling public, the steps offer recreational uses as well. Throughout the day, it is not unusual to see runners and hikers utilizing the stairway system as part of their exercise routes. The hillside steps are also a point of destination for many visitors of the City. The public hillside stairways are recognized by many tourists as a unique feature of Cincinnati.

Hollaender Manufacturing has partnered with the city to provide components integral to the ongoing maintenance and construction of the public staircase railings found throughout the city and neighborhoods. Hollaender Manufacturing Co. will manufacture and supply high-strength, corrosion resistant, aluminum railing components, specifically designed for the City of Cincinnati’s historic railing system. Hollaender is proud to partner with the City of Cincinnati and is excited to be part of the city’s commitment to local manufacturing.

Hollaender products are used on public work projects and infrastructure projects throughout the U.S. and we want to make sure the Tristate area knows who we are and what we do. We want local construction companies, contractors and municipalities to have the opportunity to support manufacturers, like us, who proudly manufacture all of our products here in the United States.”

Change is constant of course and exploring the switches in human behavior and new product/service choices help discover Jobs to be Done, insights, new ideas and relevant, differentiated communication.

Here’s 3 tips or reminders for helping with your Jobs to be Done Work as part of your human-centered innovation and communication.

We learn as circumstances and behaviors change (e.g., lately includes working dynamics/locations, transportation routines, grocery habits/purchases/use of technology) and new products/services emerge (e.g., ready to drink cocktails like Jim Beam Highball variations, new craft beer or non-alcoholic beverages, various plant-based foods, smoothie recipes, healthier snacks and flavored waters to home delivery, wellness/stress management apps, Made in America products recently to and a new hybrid vehicle or electric products/vehicles/bikes.   So much to learn and leverage from the trade-offs and decision making journey and beyond.

We hope this helps, but please reach out with questions or help for your situation and needs (message me or email Jeff@DigInStrategy.com)

Discovering Human Insights In Real Moment Context

WHY In Real Moment Context Strengthens New Offerings, Positioning, Sub-Names & Messaging

Context is key! We’re sharing some perspective and reminders on human behavior. Conducting marketing research in context and in real moments of decision-making with people can help uncover real human insights and shape new offerings.
I enjoyed capturing some human behavior truths from James Clear in his book Atomic Habits and applying them to consumer research, human insights and the shaping of new product offerings & communication. For example:

1. People often choose products not because of WHAT they are, but WHERE they are.
2. Environment is the invisible hand that shapes human behavior.
3. Small changes in what we SEE lead to big changes in what we DO.
- James Clear, Atomic Habits , Tiny Changes, Remarkable Results.

Glad to be bringing back this In-Context Human Insights service option after a couple of years, after many of us leveraged, adapted to or switched to more online/digital marketing research approaches to help Innovation and Marketing Teams connect with consumers or other stakeholders. While this will clearly continue (as we leverage digital/technology or hybrid approaches), we can appreciate (for certain objectives and needs) being as close as we can to the real world moments and circumstances.
Here's a reminder as to why.

Have a new offering or existing brand to renovate? We're currently exploring first impressions and beyond of relevant new concepts, offerings/package designs, communication/messaging and products in our co-working environment (in certain moments) to gain insights . Please reach out to me at Jeff@DigInStrategy.com to learn more or discuss your needs. Or sign up for our newsletter (main page of website)

NEW messaging and NEW products for switching behaviors.

Enjoying our NEW office location for Dig In Strategy here at Co-Hatch (a great new place in the Mason and Cincinnati area for work collaboration and bringing ideas to life). Of course, this is an example that fits this year as we see a lot of new things along with NEW product purchasing, adaptation and switching behavior. From NEW products/solutions for the backyard to new healthy snack products, new ways for mental breaks/stress relief and work dynamics. In fact, we’re starting to share examples of recent new products/solutions tried (with some reasons why) from our numerous interviews about this, knowing it has impact on brand communication, company culture and new ideas in certain categories. See these examples below with other to follow.
